Egape is derived from the word “AGAPE”, which means “God’s Unconditional Love”. The ministry aims to spread God’s AGAPE love by through various educational programs. Our aim as teachers is to be a channel of God’s love so that we are not only in class to teach but to form and sustain relationships built on the love of God and our ministry.
What we do?
We are a ministry in SP with a focus on reaching out to Indonesian domestic helpers through education programs.
Egape works in collaboration to teach English with our sister church SPIN. Hence the name: Egape (E for education). Since its beginnings, in addition to English classes, Egape now teaches a variety of skill sets, from guitar and piano lessons, to make-up and computer classes. Egape focuses to reach out to both the local and Indonesian community. Our aim as teachers is to be a channel of God’s love so that we are not only in class to teach but to form and sustain relationships built on the love of God and our ministry.
Every Sunday afternoon
How do I get involved?
All that is required is a servant heart to serve those who are in need and to share God’s love. We do not require our volunteers to be qualified teachers. If you are interested in joining the ministry, please email us at [email protected] for more information. We look forward to hearing from you!
About the classes
Egape was developed with the following purposes in mind:
- To help Indonesian domestic helpers to better communicate with their employers
- To broaden future career options for Indonesian domestic helpers
- To share the gospel
The classes are designed according to different English levels, from beginners to advanced. We also provide lessons on basic computer skills. Since the founding of this ministry, we have been blessed to have witnessed multiple sisters grow in their relationships with Christ. We have also had great testimonies of sisters returning to Indonesia and, using the skills they’ve learned at Egape, have started libraries and Kindergartens for children.
